Sun Protection Procedure

At St Marks Preschool, we take sun safety seriously and work with parents/carers to help protect children during warmer weather and periods of higher UV. We ask that sun cream is applied before children arrive at preschool. Parents/carers are asked to contribute £3 per year (payable at the start of spring term) which allows us to provide and reapply Nivea sun cream throughout the day as needed. If your child cannot use Nivea sun cream, for example due to sensitive skin, we ask that you provide a clearly labelled bottle of suitable sun cream to remain at preschool so staff can reapply it when required. Please also ensure your child comes to preschool in appropriate lightweight clothing, ideally with long sleeves or UV-protective fabric, and brings a named sun hat and drinking bottle each day. We also encourage children and staff to wear sunglasses in bright sunshine to help protect their eyes.
