Promoting Positive Behaviour

At St Marks Preschool, we support children to develop positive behaviour through warm, consistent relationships, clear expectations and age-appropriate guidance. Staff recognise that behaviour is a form of communication and work to understand what a child may be trying to express, supporting them to manage their emotions, develop self-regulation and build positive relationships with others. We encourage kindness, sharing, turn-taking, respect and making good choices, while staff model the behaviour we want children to learn. Children are never shouted at, humiliated or treated in a way that could affect their dignity or wellbeing. Our children are also involved in creating and understanding our preschool ‘Golden Rules’, helping them learn why boundaries and expectations are important.
