Health and Safety Procedures
It is the responsibility of the Health and Safety Co-ordinator, Sarah, that the Health and Safety of the environment is maintained. All toys, equipment and furnishings are chosen with safety in mind and conform to appropriate legislation. We follow EYFS ratios for children with at least: one member of staff to four 2-year olds and one member of staff to eight 3 – 4-year olds. Children will not be left unsupervised and at least two members of staff will always be present. The wellbeing of each child will be observed on arrival and regularly throughout each session. If any child becomes unwell or shows signs of discomfort the parent/ carer will be notified immediately to arrange collection. In the meantime, a member of staff will comfort the child. Parents are advised not to bring children into the setting who are displaying symptoms of the following illnesses: Diarrhoea, Vomiting, Fever, Chicken Pox, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Meningitis or Hepatitis. Children who have had diarrhoea or vomiting can-not return to Pre School until 48 hours after the last episode. The safety of the children is paramount, staff will make a daily check of the setting prior to opening. Doors are kept locked at all times.
