St.Marks's Pre-School
Fire Procedure
At St Marks Preschool, all staff are familiar with our fire, emergency evacuation and lockdown procedures and understand their individual responsibilities. Fire and evacuation drills are practised regularly and recorded so children and staff are familiar with leaving the building safely and calmly. During an evacuation, registers and headcounts are used to ensure everyone is accounted for and our designated assembly point is the ramp to the church. We also have lockdown procedures for situations where it may be safer for children and staff to remain securely inside the building. During a lockdown, doors are secured, children are moved to a safe area, registers are checked and everyone remains together and as calm and quiet as possible until the all-clear is given. Parents/carers and visitors must always follow staff instructions during any fire, evacuation or lockdown emergency and should not attempt to remove a child until staff confirm it is safe to do so.
