Medication

How we manage medication and support children health needs.

At St Marks Preschool, all staff are Level 3 Paediatric First Aiders and medication will only be administered when it is necessary and parents/carers have completed the appropriate medication form and given permission. As part of our setting procedure, children starting antibiotics should remain at home for the first 24 hours so they can be monitored for any reaction and should only return when they are well enough to take part in their normal preschool day. Children with vomiting or diarrhoea must remain at home for at least 48 hours after their last episode. If your child has a temperature, is generally unwell or requires Calpol/paracetamol in order to manage their symptoms, we ask that they remain at home until they are well. If a child becomes unwell while at preschool, we will contact parents/carers and ask for them to be collected; any medication given while awaiting collection will be administered only in accordance with our Medication Policy and parental consent procedures.
