Health and Safety
Keeping our environment safe and secure.
At St Marks Preschool, the health, safety and wellbeing of every child is a priority. Our Health and Safety Co-ordinator, Sarah Smith, oversees our procedures, and staff complete daily safety checks of the premises, equipment and environment before children arrive. We maintain appropriate EYFS staffing ratios and ensure children are effectively supervised throughout the day. Staff monitor children’s wellbeing and will contact parents/carers if a child becomes unwell or is unable to comfortably take part in their normal preschool day. Children with vomiting or diarrhoea must remain at home until at least 48 hours after their last episode, and we follow current UKHSA guidance for other infectious illnesses and exclusion periods. Our doors remain securely locked, risks are regularly assessed and all staff share responsibility for identifying and responding to hazards so that children can play, learn and explore in a safe and well-maintained environment.
